Belgium to Contribute €9 Million for Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure Restoration

Belgium has committed to providing Ukraine with an additional €9 million to aid in the restoration of its war-damaged energy infrastructure

This funding allocation was announced by the Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation, Karolina Gennes, according to a report by RTBF, a Belgian broadcaster.

The allocated funds will be channeled through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which focuses on economic development initiatives. The UNDP has been actively involved since the beginning of the conflict, being among the first to deliver new generators to Ukraine. It has since established a system for the quick procurement of spare parts and the provision of new equipment essential for repairing the damaged and destroyed infrastructure.

Minister Gennes highlighted the specific use of the funds for repairing energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, which is frequently targeted by Russian bombardments.

"This aid, alongside military support, is crucial for strengthening Ukraine's stability," Minister Gennes emphasized, underscoring Belgium's continued support in both humanitarian and military dimensions.
