Berlin Blocked the €9 Bln Aid EU-Ukraine

Germany holds back the transfer of €9 billion of aid to Ukraine for over a month

On May 31, the European Union agreed to provide Ukraine with a macro-financial tranche to fill urgent economic gaps. The Italian edition of Corriere Della Sera reported that Berlin banned a decision to help Ukraine.

The art of the article in Corriere Della Sera considers several reasons for blocking the package. The first reason was Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to dismiss the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany Andrii Melnyk. Another reason for refusing full financial assistance — is fear of Ukraine’s inability to repay the debt. German finance minister Christian Lindner disagrees with the decision of Brussels to finance aid to Ukraine from the total European debt.

Any reason for blocking does not change the fact that Ukraine needs money to save Ukrainian families. If Berlin and other countries continue to doubt Ukraine’s abilities, not only Ukraine but Europe may lose everything.
