The Cabinet of Ministers approved construction of a plant to produce fuel assemblies for Ukrainian nuclear reactors.
The facility is planned in Mykolaiv region near Yuzhnoukrainsk and is intended to partially supply nuclear fuel from 2027.
Energoatom called the project strategic. It will use Westinghouse technology and build on the qualification of the Atomenergomash unit.
Next steps include detailed project documentation and state expertise required for facilities of this level.
The plan targets localizing about half of fuel needs in the long term and reducing dependence on external suppliers.
