In Ukraine, a regulator has been set up to monitor the fulfillment of mobile operators' obligations to cover settlements and roads with high-quality 4G Internet connection. The regulator will also check that all the data of the operator coincides with the actual results stated by the mobile operator.
"A year ago, going to Poltava, I could not only make an online call, but even send messages in messengers. And now we have been meeting at Zoom, chatting with citizens online for over an hour and working full time. The connection was lost only a few times. This can be considered progress compared to last year. However, there is still work to be done. I am confident that our joint work with operators will yield significant results, and there will be no more problems with communication in remote settlements and when traveling to Ukraine," said minister of digital transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
The minister also added that the team of the Ministry of digital transformation, the state special communications service and operators have developed a vision of how to cover 4G railways throughout Ukraine.
We will remind, in the summer of 2020 the LTE900 project started. According to him, mobile operators will cover the countryside and highways until middle 2024. As a result, more than 2.7 million Ukrainians received 4G for the first time (in about 8.200 settlements). 9.3 million Ukrainians received improved 4G or a new operator.
The Ministry of digital transformation became the first ministry to take a comprehensive approach to addressing Internet coverage in Ukraine. The team conducted an audit of the state of Ukraine's internet services, prepared a road map, set a specific goal and systematically works to achieve it.
