Today Ukraine is the most mined country in the world. Multiple deaths of people are known due to mines left by the aggressor country. This problem is especially relevant for workers in the aquaculture sector: mined wheat fields do not contribute to the sowing season, but they cause the deaths of combine operators.
Through the United24 crowdfunding platform, funds were raised to purchase a modern machine for remote demining of territories Armtrac. Today, the machine is working in the Kharkiv region, where about 12.000 km² must be freed from the consequences of Russian occupation. Armtrac's hydraulic rotor is 3 m long and is capable of clearing over 2.400 m² per 1 hour. The demining system penetrates detonating devices to a depth of 55 cm, and the armoured hull protects the Armtrac from explosions of armoured mines up to 10 kg.
"Daily, explosives experts of the State Emergency Service neutralize from 1.000 to 1.500 ammunition. First of all, Armtrac 400 will help us save the lives of civilians and rescuers who are constantly at risk of exploding on a mine during their work. Now people who have to clear vast territories of the Kharkiv region will have effective benefits," head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Serhii Kruk.
A feature of the system is that it can be controlled remotely. Thus, the Armtrac operator receives an additional level of protection against explosions. In the near future, British engineers will arrive in Ukraine to train Ukrainian operators to work with machine and various types of mines.
