The shutdown of nuclear power units not only threatens the nuclear components of the facility. The national nuclear power company Energotom reports that the cooling pond is the first to suggest negligence by the occupiers. Idle power units have led to cooling water in the pond. Already now, the temperature is fixed at no higher than +13°. Further, in Ukraine frosts will intensify and the first frosts are coming. This will lead to even more cooling of the water, whose optimal temperature in winter is +18°.
The importance of controlling this point lies in the presence of several thousand tons of fish in the pond. There are thermal tilapia and Asian catfish in the Zaporizhzhia NPP pond. They were brought to the station 25 years ago to perform a sanitary function. These fish destroy green algae and ensure clean turbine condenser cooling tubes. If the water temperature doesn’t start rising, the fish will not only stop reproducing, but they will die of cold.
More than a ton of fish will be washed ashore. Without them, the pipes will also quickly become polluted, leading to a bad flow of water in the reactors. The catastrophe in Putin’s head leads to a local catastrophe, a local catastrophe to a worldwide one.
