EU Starts Joint Procurement of Ammunition for Ukraine

The first 8 countries signed contracts on the purchase of ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces

On September 5, the European Defence Agency received signatures from 8 countries that agreed to develop ammunition for Kyiv. It is known that the EDA needs to manufacture ammunition (155-mm) for self-propelled howitzer that the defenders of Ukraine already have: Caesar, Krab, German Panzerhaubitze 2000 and Slovak Zuzana.

Currently, for security reasons, the European Union cannot tell which countries and military industries will be involved. It is known that the contracts were signed within the framework of the tripartite agreement of the Council of the EU of March 2023. The purpose of these agreements is the rapid supply of a large number of artillery ammunition and missiles to the Ukrainian army. It is noted that this is one of the most important issues for deterring and defeating the enemy.

Recall that by the end of the year, the EU plans to transfer 1 million of the most demanded shells to Ukraine. So it is expected that soon, other European armed concerns will also sign the necessary contracts with EDA.
