EU Transfers €4.2 Billion Tranche of Macrofinancial Aid to Ukraine

Ukraine receives significant financial support as part of the EU’s Ukraine Facility program

The European Commission has transferred nearly €4.2 billion to Ukraine as the first tranche under the Ukraine Facility program. This substantial financial assistance is part of ongoing efforts to support Ukraine's economic stability and reform initiatives.

The European Commission's decision followed the Council of the EU's approval, confirming that Ukraine had satisfactorily implemented nine key reform indicators required for the first regular quarterly payment. These reforms, outlined in the Ukrainian Plan, include improvements in public finance management, state enterprise governance, the business environment, energy sector reforms, and demining operations.

"Today's payment follows earlier disbursements within the program, including €6 billion in interim financing and €1.9 billion in pre-financing, demonstrating the swift implementation of the Ukrainian Plan," the European Commission stated.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal recently mentioned during a government meeting that Ukraine was anticipating this €4.2 billion tranche as part of the Ukraine Facility program.

In July, EU ambassadors approved the disbursement, marking a significant milestone in the EU's ongoing support for Ukraine's reform efforts and economic resilience amid the ongoing conflict.
