European Investment Bank to Allocate up to €30 Million for Ukrainian SMEs

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is set to provide up to 30 million euros to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ukraine

The Ukrainian government has approved a decision enabling two local banks to access these funds, announced Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"These funds will be used to improve the conditions of preferential lending to support Ukrainian small and medium enterprises," said Prime Minister Shmyhal. He also expressed gratitude for the continuous support from European partners, noting that EU budget support for Ukraine since the start of the year has totaled approximately 6.5 billion dollars.

The Ministry of Finance highlighted the successful cooperation with the EIB, which led to securing over 261 million euros for investment projects in 2023—double the amount in 2021 and eight times more than in 2022. This year's investment was the largest since the commencement of the partnership with the EIB.

Overall, the portfolio of joint projects with the EIB in both the public and private sectors has reached more than 7 billion euros, with over 2 billion euros provided since the start of the full-scale war.
