Fragments of Biden’s Speech in Ukraine

On February 20, a meeting of the president of the United States and the political leadership of Ukraine will take place in Kyiv

President Joe Biden arrived in Ukraine and made a number of statements about strength and power that no one expected from Ukrainians.

"That dark night one year ago, the world was literally at the time bracing for the fall of Kyiv. Perhaps even the end of Ukraine. You know, a year later, Kyiv stands, and Ukraine stands. Democracy stands. The Americans stand with you, and the world stands with you, and the world stands with you. Kyiv captured a part of my heart. I came here 6 times as vice president, once as president."

"A lot has changed since my last trip to Kyiv. Terrible things happened, invasions, but at the same time, Ukrainians showed themselves in a way that very few people have ever shown themselves in their defence. And they helped us understand the meaning of democracy."

"I thought it was critical that there not be any doubt, none whatsoever, about US support for Ukraine in the war."

"We know that there are difficult days, weeks and years ahead. Putin's goal is to wipe Ukraine off the map. But the Russian economy is now isolated, it has problems."

"Ukraine will receive more Javelins, more artillery ammunition, more surveillance systems."
