The agreement was signed between the Operator of the gas transport system of Ukraine and the Hungarian GTS FGSZ
"For the first time since 2014, Ukraine has been increasing its guaranteed capacity for importing gas from Europe. So far, the deal is being concluded for a test of three months. During this time, we plan with our Hungarian colleagues to coordinate and adjust all technical and operational processes to extend its operation from April 2022 and further increase the guaranteed capacity in this area," Serhii Makohon, head of OGTSU.
Also, from December 31, it will be possible to book import capacities through the RBP platform at daily auctions, the first of which will take place on January 17, 2021. The agreement between Ukraine and Hungary will allow Ukrainian traders to import natural gas from the Croatian LNG terminal. It, in turn, will expand the range of sources of gas supplies to our country.
Every day from Hungary to Ukraine will be supplied about 8 million m³ of gas. For understanding, this volume is approximately equal to the daily gas supply of all Kyiv.
"Together with the available daily capacity from Slovakia (27 million m³), the total guaranteed capacity for gas imports to Ukraine will increase to 35 million m³ per day", Makohon.
