It is no secret that Ukraine is eager and ready to join the European Union. The process's speed depends on the country's readiness to change and the EU's acceptance of Ukraine. At the same time, the permanent ambassador of the EU to Ukraine has already noted that the country has changed a lot and fulfilled the primary conditions for joining the international organization. So now it's up to the members of the union to decide. The first advances on this issue are already visible.
The German chancellor, speaking at Charles University in Prague, said that Ukraine should join the European Union. According to Olaf Scholz, the international organization should already decide to expand the EU's borders. Scholz calls for membership in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova.
"The countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and, eventually, Georgia should become part of the EU. This enlargement is in the interest of the European Union. These days, the question of where the dividing line between a free Europe and neo-imperialist autocracy will now lie again arises," he said on 29 August.
