German Exports to Ukraine Jump 30% in First Half of 2025

Federal Statistical Office data shows exports from Germany to Ukraine exceeded €4.6 billion, while imports from Ukraine fell slightly

German Exports to Ukraine Increase by Nearly a Third

In the first half of 2025, German exports to Ukraine grew by 30.2%, reaching over €4.6 billion, according to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian exports to Germany decreased by 4.5% to slightly over €1.5 billion.

Economic and Political Context

Katrina Klaas-Mühlhäuser, Chairwoman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, emphasized that supporting and rebuilding Ukraine is a long-term commitment for Europe, especially given Ukraine’s path toward EU membership.

“We see this as a long-term commitment to a future EU member state, from which both sides benefit,” she noted. However, she also expressed concern over a possible weakening of anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.

Anti-Corruption Efforts in Focus

Germany has reiterated its expectation that Ukraine will continue strengthening the independence of the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau) and SAPO (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office) following the adoption of Law No. 13533.

The EU has confirmed it has no plans to freeze funding for Ukraine after the law’s approval, underscoring the continued political and financial support for the country’s recovery and integration into the European market.
