Germany May Transfer “Taurus” Cruise Missiles to Ukraine

However, preliminarily the missile manufacturer must reduce the range of the missiles

Germany is considering the possibility of providing long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine from the balance of the Bundeswehr. The final decision should be up to Olaf Scholz, who is afraid of the escalation of the war if Ukraine uses the Taurus against military targets on the territory of Russia.

The Taurus guided missile is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 500 km. The German armed forces asked the manufacturer about the possibility of reducing the range of missiles by changing the software settings. Such a modification is possible, but it will take several weeks to implement.

Currently, there are no other reasons why chancellor Scholz would be against providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Taurus missiles.

It is known that Ukraine turned to Germany after Great Britain decided to provide Ukraine with long-range Storm Shadow and France with SCALP.
