On October 25, a significant event took place in Ukraine: the first simultaneous transplant of 2 organs into 1 person was performed in the history of our medicine. Doctors from the Lviv medical association and the Kyiv heart institute operated on 38-year-old Nina for 10 hours. Nina has been waiting for this chance for 15 years.
Annually in the world are performed no more than 25 such operations. The Ukrainian pioneer-surgeon in complex transplantation became Boris Todurov from the Heart institute.
Nina's life donor was an 18-year-old boy who recently died in a car accident.
