On the morning of October 10, Russia began to implement its plan to destroy the Ukrainian energy system. The president of the aggressor country and Russian media confirm that the Ukrainian thermal power plants were the main target of the shelling, and the general plan is to "leave the Ukrainians in the cold and darkness." Thermal power plants were damaged in every region that was targeted by the Russian attack. Moreover, the Ladyzhyn thermal power plant in the Vinnytsia region was attacked twice.
"In the morning, Russian terrorist troops bombarded Ladyzhyn TPP with kamikaze drones. The power equipment of the station was damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties," representatives of the power plant said.
The energy minister of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko, said that the pace of restoration of the Ukrainian energy system is ahead of the pace of Russian attacks since Ukrainian engineering departments, foreign partners and Ukrainians themselves are working simultaneously, consuming electricity responsibly.
"The humanitarian assistance provided by our international partners to the energy sector is beneficial, primarily through the Energy Recovery Fund," Herman Galushchenko.
It is clear that Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system are aimed at breaking the spirit of the Ukrainian population, internal riots and pushing the government to make a deal with Russia. However, the Russians forgot that Ukrainians do not negotiate with terrorists, so in just 1 day, Ukrainians reduced electricity consumption throughout the country on 10%.
"If we can all replicate a conscious approach to energy efficiency tonight, the country's emergency shutdown schedules could be substantially reduced. This autumn-winter period will be difficult — and yesterday, everyone saw what it was. Therefore, the reasonable consumption of electricity and heat should become our new habit," he said.
