Is Ukraine a Beekeeping Country?

Ukraine strengthens its position of honey export to the world market

For the second year in a row, the Ukrainian club of agrarian business reports new options for Ukrainian exports of honey. In 2020, Ukrainian honey took second place on the global market. Ukrainian apiaries conceded only to Chinese honey in 2020. In 2021, the gold medal for the export of honey remained with the Ukrainians.

"The Top-5 largest exporters of natural honey are China, Ukraine, Argentina, India, and Brazil. Totally, these countries generated 54% of world sell overseas," told Hanna Burka, the specialist of the Food and agriculture organization of the United Nations.

Natural Ukrainian honey is highly valued not only in the fatherland but also in other countries. Over the past few years, honey manufacturers have increased the percentage of imports due to Covid-19. Now people are trying to eat not only natural but also useful food.

Thus, Ukraine is gradually becoming well-known worldwide as a country of honey. The taste and benefits of this product have already been learned in Poland, the USA, and Germany. It is to these countries that the most significant amount of Ukrainian honey is exported.

This product is imported into Poland from Ukraine, China, Romania. But honey from a bordering country is still in the most significant demand. Thus, in percentage terms, Ukraine delivers 58% of the sweet product to Poland, China 23%, and Romania 6%.

The U.S. demand for honey from Ukraine is slightly lower. Ukraine exports only 6% of natural products to the United States.

At the same time, Germany, as well as Poland, prefers the product collected on Ukrainian apiaries. Concerning other exporters, 18% was given to Ukraine.

Ukrainian honey is not only known for various natural compounds. It is also the first product to be exported abroad as part of duty-free trade with the E.U.
