Italy Commits to Extending Military Aid to Ukraine Through 2024

The Italian government has passed a resolution to extend military support to Ukraine until the end of 2024, as announced by the Italian Ministry of Defense and reported by The Guardian.

According to the ministry's statement, "The Italian Cabinet of Ministers has approved a resolution enabling the nation to persist in providing Ukraine with various means, materials, and equipment until the end of 2024. This is in an effort to bolster Ukraine's military actions against Russia."

The support package is set to include weapons, generators, and other essentials necessary for conducting military operations and safeguarding the unarmed civilian populace. The Italian Ministry of Defense also indicated that they would seek the backing of the Italian parliament for this resolution.

Previously, Italy had announced preparations for a new military aid package for Ukraine in May, which was to be the seventh consecutive supply of weapons.

In related developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently engaged in a phone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During this call, the leaders agreed to initiate work on bilateral security guarantees.
