Italy Recognizes Holodomor as Genocide

On February 21, the Italian parliamentary faction for foreign affairs supported the recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people

During a press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni said that the Parliamentary committee on foreign affairs recognised the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. We remind you that the Holodomor is an artificial famine, which the Soviet authorities deliberately used against Ukrainians in 1932-1933.

"It is also important for us to recognise the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people since this year marks the 90th anniversary of this tragedy. Madam Prime Minister told me that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Parliament had already voted for this important decision yesterday," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is expected that the resolution will soon be adopted by the Parliament of Italy.

Today the famine is recognised as genocide in Ukraine, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Czechia, Georgia, the Vatican, Moldova, the Republic of Ichkeria and Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Portugal, Poland, Estonia, as well as the Europarliament and the US Congress.
