“It’s Time to Invest in Ukrainian IT”

The first lady of Ukraine opened the annual European technology conference "Web Summit"

On November 2, the most anticipated summit of IT specialists in Europe began. This year it was held in Lisbon and gathered more than 70.000 visitors and 900 speakers. Among the participants of the conference were representatives of the largest companies in the world: Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. The first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska had the honour to open the event. This is not surprising. This year the Ukrainian team opened the Web Summit, the largest pavilion, and told about amazing statistics. Despite the war, the largest delegation in the history of the event came from Ukraine. Representatives of foundations, IT companies, state institutions, and more than 70 leading Ukrainian startups have become the IT face of Ukraine this year.

Deputy prime minister, minister of digital transformation Mykhailo Fedorov also arrived in Lisbon. He also addressed the guests. He said that exports of computer services in the country grew by 23% compared to the previous year, as Ukrainian IT companies attracted $350 million of investment. According to the minister, the IT sector of Ukraine performs 2 tasks: providing regular foreign exchange earnings and paying taxes. This alone shows the level of professionalism of Ukrainian specialists and their ability to attract investment in Ukraine despite the war.

The first lady of Ukraine noted the scale of the Ukrainian project at the exhibition and called for investment in Ukrainian projects.

"Here all the time events: presentations, lectures, pitches of Ukrainian startups and companies. All of them prove: now is the time to invest in Ukrainian IT. Since the victory of Ukraine in the war people have been provided with modern technology," said Zelenska.
