During his daily video message to the Ukrainians, Volodymyr Zelenskyy told about the level of mines in the Ukrainian territory and the heroes who daily neutralise our land. According to the president, on February 24, 2022, pyrotechnicians and sappers cleared more than 100.000 ha in the territory of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. The State Emergency Service has neutralised more than 400.000 explosive Russian shells, and more than 200.000 of them have already been disposed of.
Today Ukraine is one of the most mined territories on the planet and the most mined territory in Europe. The demining of our land is strategically important since part of these lands are fields on which bread grows, with which Ukraine feeds third countries.
According to the State Emergency Service, more than 30% of Ukraine is contaminated with Russian unexploded ordnance and mines. Basically, it is Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. Ukraine desperately needs prompt cleansing of its lands so that people can return home, and the country can function fully.
