A new mobility tool
Ukraine's Defense Ministry has codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces the first domestic all-wheel-drive electric motorcycle MULE. The vehicle is designed for logistics, evacuation and movement of personnel in off-road conditions where speed, silence and low visibility matter.
During tests, the motorcycle confirmed key characteristics: a 2x2 all-wheel-drive layout, two independent electric motors, quiet operation, fast deployment and folding, long autonomous operation, extended range and high maximum speed. Its design also allows towing a trailer.
Range and field power
A charged battery set gives the MULE almost one hundred kilometers of travel. A removable gasoline generator is mounted on the frame and can recharge standard batteries. It can also work as a separate power source for mobile phones, communication devices, FPV drone batteries and other field equipment.
Wide off-road tires and all-wheel drive allow the motorcycle to move across sand, deep snow and marshy terrain. The low surface pressure is comparable to that of a footstep, which reduces the risk of triggering many anti-vehicle mines.
Procurement context
The ministry says frontline mobility directly affects mission speed and the survival of soldiers. In 2026, the Defense Procurement Agency signed contracts for 1,500 motorcycles for the Armed Forces, three times more than last year. Competition among six suppliers generated budget savings of almost twelve million hryvnias. For the defense market, the MULE shows how electric mobility is becoming part of wartime logistics rather than a civilian niche.
