On June 20, the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, and the head of the Italian Senate, Ignazio La Russa, discussed Ukraine as a promising candidate for NATO membership. Today, several states, as well as the European Parliament and the United States, supported the aspirations of Ukraine and formalised their word. Stefanchuk called on Italy to join these states and support Ukraine at the upcoming summit in Lithuania.
"The Vilnius summit should become a platform where the Alliance's common vision of the modalities and clearly defined timeframes for Ukraine's accession to NATO will be presented," Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Earlier, Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine will become a member of NATO over time. However, one should count on an invitation at the summit in Vilnius.
