Strategic Financial Support for Ukraine
The Netherlands will provide €55 million to the World Bank to help Ukraine finance recovery projects and implement structural reforms.
This was announced by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof during a joint press conference in Kyiv on October 6.
“This contribution shows that the Netherlands is doing everything possible to support Ukraine,” said Schoof.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the total Dutch assistance since the start of the full-scale war remains substantial:
-
€20.6 billion in total support for Ukraine since 2022,
-
including €13.6 billion in direct government aid.
The Netherlands Among Ukraine’s Most Trusted Partners
According to a September 2025 survey, Ukrainians expressed overwhelmingly positive views toward the Netherlands:
-
89.3% of respondents view the Netherlands favorably,
-
only 5.7% expressed a negative opinion,
-
resulting in a trust balance of +83.6 points — the highest among all partner countries.
The Netherlands remains one of Ukraine’s most consistent supporters in both humanitarian and defense assistance, providing critical resources for reconstruction and national resilience.
Focus on Defense Capabilities
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans emphasized that drones and anti-drone systems are among the most critical technologies for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
“Unmanned systems are now at the heart of modern warfare. Supporting Ukraine in this area is crucial for its security and for Europe’s collective stability,” Brekelmans stated.
