This contribution boosts the total support from the Netherlands to approximately €2 billion for the current year, as reported by Het Parool.
The designated funds are earmarked for military support, as well as military rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts within Ukraine. Furthermore, the Dutch government has already set aside €1.5 billion for Ukraine's support for the year 2025, underlining the country's continued commitment to assisting Ukraine amidst the conflict.
This financial aid is part of a broader initiative by the Netherlands to escalate its defense expenditure to align with NATO's stipulated target of 2% of GDP. By the end of February 2024, the Netherlands' total expenditure on assistance to Ukraine surpassed €2.8 billion, reflecting the nation's significant role in the international coalition supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
