New US Ambassador in Ukraine

An experienced US diplomat, Bridget Brink, could become the US Ambassador to Ukraine

Following the resignation of US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Jovanic, the United States has not had an approved Ambassador for more than two years.

Biden is expected to select Bridget Brink, an experienced high-ranking diplomat, as her candidate for US ambassador to Ukraine, current and former officials familiar with the issue. However, no final decision has been made.

The delay in the appointment of the ambassador to Ukraine for almost a year since the beginning of Biden's term is confusing to some experienced diplomats.

Currently, Brink heads the US Embassy in Slovakia.

The appointment of many ambassadors has been delayed due to Republican opposition in the Senate, which has to approve candidates.

However, William Taylor, a former US ambassador to Ukraine and an expert on European affairs at the US Institute of Peace, says the Biden administration has not been nominated.
