Opening of the “Lviv” Airport

The launch of the first airport in Ukraine is being discussed. So far, as a humanitarian corridor

On June 6, negotiations between the minister of infrastructure of Ukraine and the EU commissioner for transport took place. The negotiations resulted in an agreement on Ukraine's participation in Connection of Europe, which is the basis for the development of Ukraine's infrastructure. Along with the development, reconstruction and launch of new logistics routes connecting Ukraine and Europe, the opening of the Lviv airport in the west of Ukraine was discussed. The airport is located 7 km from the city of Lviv and is a relatively safe option for the gradual and partial opening of airspace over Ukraine. So far, only the possibility of launching the airport has been discussed, and only as a humanitarian corridor.

"We discussed the possibility of opening the Lviv airport. This is one of the important things that we are looking forward to. We hope that since there is now a grain corridor, there may be a humanitarian one provided by the European Union," head of the Lviv regional military administration Maxym Kozytskyy.
