Since the first day of the war, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been ready to negotiate with Putin. However, he sees the leader's meeting as a way to end the bloodshed and return to each of his territories. The French leader, Emmanuel Macron, also believes that negotiations between the presidents of the 2 warring countries are necessary. However, according to Macron, the talks could be a result of the war. According to French policy, Russia's war against Ukraine could end with a victory for Ukraine or negotiations.
"At some point, Ukraine's president will have to negotiate with Russia. And we Europeans will be at this table," said Macron, according to TFI news sources.
He also noted that Russia and Ukraine, not France and Russia howl. Therefore, France can only support, not enter into the war.
It seems that the president of Ukraine and the president of France have different understandings of the need for negotiations. Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists on meeting with Putin to settle the issue and return Ukrainian territories at least to the state of "February 23, 2022". The president of Ukraine is ready to discuss separately the issue of the previously occupied Donbas and Crimea.
Emmanuel Macron sees the negotiations as the outcome of the war and puts them on a different weighting scale, where opposition to the "victory of Ukraine". Does this mean that Macron is still preparing Ukraine for concessions to be made for the sake of the president of the aggressor country?
