A day ago, referring to the "desire of the Ukrainian people on the territory of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions," the principle of international law and the UN Charter, Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine.
"In accordance with the generally recognized norms and principles of international law and reaffirming the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, enshrined in the UN Charter, taking into account the will of the people of the Zaporizhia region at the referendum held on September 27, I order: to recognize the state sovereignty and independence of the Zaporizhia region," the text of the decree on annexation signed by Putin. A similar document was drawn up and signed for the Kherson region.
Recognition of the independence of the territories is a necessary step for further annexation of the territories. Putin followed exactly the same route when he annexed Crimea.
On September 30, Putin will address the members of the federation council, and then the signing of decrees on the annexation of 4 regions will take place: Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
For Ukraine, as for all progressive countries of the world, Putin's decree does not matter, the so-called referendums were illegal and contrary to international norms, and all regions of Ukraine are Ukraine. For Kyiv and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the situation does not change: we continue to fight for our territories, and we will return everything to the last grain of sand in Donetsk, Lugansk, Crimea, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
