Restoration of the Heat and Power Systems Is Estimated at $1 Bln

Damage caused by Russia is estimated at $1 bln today, and with each new attack the number will increase

Ukrainian prime minister Denys Shmyhal announced the damage caused to Ukrainian infrastructure by Russian missiles and drones. Specifically, the restoration of the centralized heat supply costs $500 million, and the same amount is needed to restore our state's energy system.

The damage caused by Russian attacks affects the economic and social sphere of Ukraine and the lives of its citizens. In particular, they destabilize power grids, as it is necessary to regulate the power supply from destroyed power grids to still intact ones. Because of this, it is necessary to apply planned blackouts, on which the rhythm of life in the country depends.

According to Shmyhal, the recently published report of the World Bank and the European Commission objectively reflects Ukraine's needs and assesses the scale of the disaster. As of June 1, 2022, the level of funding for recovery in various areas is $349 billion. The same report says that the amount will increase to $500-600 billion. The war is not over yet — the destruction is intensifying — the demand for funding is increasing.
