“Rheinmetall” to Build Its Plant in Ukraine Until the End of War

Investment in the project — €200 mln. Production capacity — 400 "Panthers" per year

The head of the concern Armin Papperger earlier announced his desire to build a tank plant in Ukraine after the war. However, the respected German magazine reports that Rheinmetall has reconsidered the plant's construction. The contract between the German tank manufacturer and the Ukrainian government can be signed soon.

The German arms group wants to invest in opening a branch in Ukraine. Rheinmetall is ready to build a tank factory that will produce at least 400 tanks annually. It is also reported that the Ukrainian concern may produce Panther tanks. The project cost is estimated at €200 million.

Armin Papperger believes that the work on the plant can begin now. He believes that such a step will help Ukraine win. According to the head of the factory, the armed forces of Ukraine need not only Leopard 2 tanks but 600-800 other armoured self-propelled vehicles.

In addition, the German representative notes that the war will not be an obstacle to investment.

"Protection by air defence will not be difficult. Negotiations with the Ukrainian government promise a lot, and I hope that a decision will be made in the next 2 months," stressed Armin Papperger.
