Russia’s Attempts to Consolidate Annexation of Ukrainian Territory

On 27 January, Russia announced the transfer of occupied Ukrainian territories to Moscow time

The Washington Post reports that the Kremlin continues to consolidate its power in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The 2nd time zone, which refers to Moscow time, is planned to enter the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic, part of the occupied Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Such a step is another illegal and unjustified attempt by Russia to exercise power in the occupied regions.

Before that, the Russian authorities appointed the leaders of the occupied territories, issued passports of the Russian Federation, and "solemnly" proclaimed the accession of Ukrainian cities to its composition. Also, the captured schools introduced Russian education programs. In Russia, this clown show adopted the official motives of September 30, when Putin signed a decree on the annexation of four Ukrainian regions. By the way, Russian forces have completely captured none of these areas. Moreover, The Washington Post notes that already in November, the Ukrainian armed forces began to seize territories illegally declared by the Russian Federation, including the only regional centre, Kherson, which Russia managed to capture during the 11 months of the war.

Ukraine does not recognize any attempt to annex its territories, as this is a violation of international rules.
