Sweden Prepares Military Assistance to Ukraine for €554 Mln

Results of the meeting of the chairman of the parliament of Ukraine with the king of Sweden

On 23 May, the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk chairman visited Sweden. During a business visit, Stefanchuk met with King Carl XVI Gustav. The Ukrainian politician thanked for the support and spoke about the ongoing conflict in the country because of the Russian military invasion now. Representatives of the 2 countries also discussed Ukraine's path to the European Union and NATO.

"In His Majesty's eyes, I saw a sincere experience for Ukraine and a wish for an early victory," said Ruslan Stefanchuk. 

He also spoke to Swedish colleagues. Stefanchuk's visit ended with a decision to provide a new assistance package from the Sweden parliament. The Riksdag approved the transfer of the tanks Leopard 2, artillery installations Archer and anti-tank weapons Robot 57 to the front. Such military equipment and ammunition for it require about €554 million.

"We talked about our historical past, present and our future. We talked about the future of Ukraine in the EU and NATO. And this is our common future," concluded Stefanchuk.
