On 8 February, the tender for the Ukrzaliznytsia was closed. The auction will take place on March 16, 2022.
The railway operator held a tender for the purchase of 60 electric trains for the new passenger transport until 2026. These trains are needed as part of the City Express project. The project covers three major cities: Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv. Another 20 electrified trains of transport are needed for regional directions.
Major foreign companies have applied for the project. Siemens, Stadler, Alstom, Pesa, Skoda. Also, the Ukrainian Kryukivsky plant applied for participation in the tender. By the way, on June 25, 2021, Ukrzaliznytsia has signed a contract with the Kryukivsky plant to supply 100 passenger trains.
The Swiss Stadler Bussnang AG offers Stadler FLIRT trains. The Ukrainian railway construction Kryukivsky plant offered two suitable models: EKr3 and EKr4. The Japanese holding company Hitachi Rail closed the three leaders.
Public procurement website Prozorro reports that the winner of the March auction will receive $1 million 125 thousand. So far, the three leading companies have submitted all the necessary documents and are awaiting the tender.
