On the Dnipro river, there is a cascade of 6 hydroelectric power stations: Kyivska, Kanevska, Kremenchugska, Srednedneprovska, Dniprovska, Kakhovska. The largest of them is the Dniprovska hydroelectric power station.
Now the territory of the Kakhovskaya HPS is occupied by the Russians. The occupiers report that a week ago, they began discharging water from the Kakhovka reservoir, allegedly because Ukraine is planning to blow up the Kakhovka dam. It is also known that the invaders damaged 3 units of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and mined the dam, which also carries a severe danger of a disaster.
What happens if the dam is damaged? Reducing the water level in the reservoir will cause the cooling systems of nuclear reactors to fail. Heating up, the reactors will explode. More than 80 settlements will be flooded, stations will stop, and Ukraine will be left without electricity. Authorities and civil protection services are developing plans in case the dam blows up. If this happens, the population will be evacuated first.
We remind you that the Dnipro HPS cascade has already been blown up. In 1941, Stalin ordered to his army to be blown up the Dnipro HPS. As a result, 20.000 Ukrainians and 1.500 Germans died. Putin stubbornly follows in the footsteps of those who have been cursed for generations.
