The Two-Sided Arrangement Between Ukraine and Azerbaijani

Five economic memorandums were approved simultaneously on 14 January

The Azerbaijani head of the state Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to Kyiv. In the framework of the planned negotiations, the presidents of the two countries reached an arrangement on several issues and entered into agreements for long-term collaboration.

A trade memorandum came into force on 14 January. The two-way reciprocal trade interaction paper defined the mechanisms by which the treaty would be implemented. In particular, Ukraine and Azerbaijani have prescribed a plan for trade collaboration in the event of threats. Among the risks to the success of reciprocal trade were:

  • Epidemiological risks;
  • Natural disaster risks.

The parties signed a treaty concerning the protection of exported and imported goods. Ukraine and Azerbaijani designated food sanitation requirements for Ukraine-Azerbaijani and Azerbaijani-Ukraine directions. The parties agreed to facilitate collaboration on the other side of food security, which simplifies control procedures during the transit and re-export of foodstuffs among countries.

The memorandum of understanding is the third arrangement of Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Ilham Aliyev. It covers the agrarian departments’ relations of the states. According to the president’s office, the Memorandum mentioned above of Understanding will strengthen collaboration and lead to new stages in crop production. The procedures for developing these perspectives include:

  • Bilateral legal assistance in the land relations;
  • Investment in agricultural processing startups;
  • Investment in modern fertilizer trade projects.

Ukraine and Azerbaijani signed another important memorandum for political-economic relations. It highlights further avenues for collaboration on land issues. The adopted document established the boundaries and framework for the regulation of land administration of State property and land register.

A final paper between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, signed by the minister of economy of Azerbaijan, Mikail Jabbarov, and the chairman of the board of one of the largest state enterprises for the extraction, transportation, and processing of petroleum and natural gas in Ukraine, Naftogaz, Yurii Vitrenko. This document touched on the power sphere. Within its framework, both countries will create an environment for the furtherance of projects of the petroleum and gas market of Ukraine. The first projects to be considered are:

  • Exploration for new hydrocarbons;
  • Arrangement of the delivery of petroleum products to the territory of Ukraine;
  • Start of petroleum refineries building and reconstruction of old Ukrainian factories.

At that meeting, the parties adopted several important decisions to strengthen worldwide collaboration. An additional bonus of the meeting is a treaty on mutual support for the sovereignty of friendly countries by the parties.
