The Ukrainian Government Met with Ursula von der Leyen

The Ukrainian president's office discussed with the president of the EU Commission an entry into the EU

On June 11, Yermak summed up the meeting with the president of the European Commission on the official Telegram page. The European team and representatives of the government of Ukraine discussed 2 essential issues to date:

  • Accession of Ukraine to the European Union;
  • Support for Ukraine during the confrontation of the Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy asked European colleagues not to delay sanctions decisions for Russia. The president of Ukraine insists on tightening the restrictions in the 7th package of sanctions. It should be recalled that work on the list of restrictions for the aggressor country has already started.

The president of Ukraine also noted that 23-24 June will be a historic moment for Ukraine. It is on these dates that the European Council will meet to decide whether to grant Ukraine the status of an EU candidate. In turn, Ursula von der Leyen gave the Ukrainian people and politicians hope. According to her, Ukraine has already completed the reform in the field of the rule of law economics. The president of the European Commission noted that Ukraine should continue its path to the EU.

European policymakers have also proposed a new tranche to prepare the country for recovery. The amount of aid will be €9 billion. The EU countries are prepared to rebuild the country after the war further.
