The Ukrainian Navy Celebrates Its 105th Anniversary

Every year, the day of the establishment of the Navy is celebrated on the first Sunday of July

105 years ago, on Ukrainian ships and the castle of the Swallow's Nest in Yalta (Crimea), located on the edge of the cliff, the Ukrainian flag and the country's Navy flag were raised. Since then, the Navy of Ukraine and the whole country have several times chosen its right to existence and protected the country.

In 2011, president Viktor Yanukovych changed the holiday date to the last Sunday of July, which once again emphasised his commitment to the country-terrorist. The Russian Federation celebrates Navy day on the last Sunday of the first month of summer. The day of the Ukrainian Navy was returned to its previous date – the first Sunday of July – after Yanukovych fled the country, and a revolution of dignity fired hearts and Kyiv.

Since 2014, the country's Navy has been protecting the south of the country and participating in the fight against the aggressor in the area of the anti-terrorist operation. During Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, our sailors were the first to come under enemy fire. But the military at sea was able to defeat the invaders adequately. The most striking example of the courage and combat capability of the Ukrainian Navy is the struggle on Snake island.

"Once the enemy believed that the Ukrainian Navy would not resist, but... The heroic operations of our Navy have taught Russian ships that they cannot approach the Ukrainian shores," Zelenskyy said.

Now Ukraine has lost some cities with ports and ships. But the military continues to work in the Azov and the Black sea. Ukraine is also developing naval cooperation with NATO representatives.

In honour of today's holiday, the flag of the Navy was raised in Kyiv. The Navy of Ukraine, as in the country itself, will never surrender to the enemy.
