Deposits keep growing
Ukrainians continue to increase savings in the banking system. According to the Deposit Guarantee Fund, as of July 1, 2026, the total amount of deposits held by individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, reached one trillion seven hundred forty-nine point two billion hryvnias.
That is 48.6 billion hryvnias more than a month earlier and 131.5 billion hryvnias more than at the start of 2026. The figures show that even under wartime pressure, households and small businesses still treat the banking system as a key place for liquidity, reserve funds and transactional savings.
Structure of savings
Most deposits remain in the national currency. Hryvnia deposits stood at 1,156.9 billion hryvnias, after rising by 39.5 billion hryvnias in June. Foreign-currency deposits reached 592.4 billion hryvnias equivalent, up 9.2 billion hryvnias during the month.
Individual entrepreneurs are a smaller group by number but a much more visible group by value. They accounted for 3.2 percent of depositors and 11.7 percent of total deposit volume, with 204.1 billion hryvnias placed in banks.
Why it matters
For investors, deposit growth is a useful indicator of confidence, liquidity and domestic financial capacity. It does not remove wartime risk, but it shows that the banking system continues to attract funds and that hryvnia instruments remain relevant for business planning. The trend also gives banks a larger base for payments, lending capacity and cooperation with entrepreneurs.
