On February 3, the Parliament of Ukraine registered a project to appeal to the Georgian government, the European Parliament and the parliaments of the member states of the EU, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, and PACE to provide Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili with an opportunity for medical treatment abroad.
Today Saakashvili is a political prisoner because of his opposition to Putin. Therefore, Ukraine uses paragraph 7 of Resolution 2463 of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as the basis for demanding that Saakashvili be given the opportunity to improve his health outside of Georgia.
“The forensic commission with the participation of Georgian and international experts confirmed the critical state of health of Mikheil Saakashvili, and we cannot but react to this. Therefore, we intend to apply to international organizations and Georgia so that the ex-president of this country and Ukrainian citizen Saakashvili will be allowed treatment abroad,” head of the Servant of the People political party Elena Shulyak.
Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the need to stop mocking the former president of Georgia. Showing a photo of the exhausted Saakashvili, the President of Urkiana added that Georgia must decide which side it is on.
