The economic forum in Davos was a good platform for Ukraine to voice its European intentions. The energy company DTEK has presented a project for the development of renewable energy sources in Ukraine. According to the startup, the "green" energy sector should have a capacity of about 30 GW by 2030.
The implementation of such a project will help to move away from dependence on Russia. According to experts, such an increase in capacity will allow the European Union countries to reconsider the conduct of the energy business — to completely abandon Russia’s energy services.
Currently, the capacity of Ukrainian renewable energy sources in Ukraine is 9 GW. Therefore, to implement the DTEK project, investments are needed. Currently, the amount of investment is estimated at billions of dollars. However, after 8 years and a 30 GW installed capacity, electricity will be able to maintain European security.
"We believe that Ukraine can become a benchmark for renewable technologies, introducing new technologies and business models," the company said after the presentation of project 30 to 2030.
Recall that in 2021, Ukraine moved from the top-10 countries in the world in terms of green energy development to the top-5. Therefore, the industry is considered successful and promising for the country, Europe, and foreign investors.
