This capacity, representing approximately a third of Ukraine's total UGS capacity, underscores Ukraine's commitment to providing substantial storage solutions to international energy companies and traders.
Naftogaz is actively participating in the E-world energy & water exhibition in Germany, showcasing its storage capabilities for the first time. With a dedicated stand and around 20 scheduled meetings with energy firms and traders, Naftogaz aims to persuade more companies to leverage Ukraine's storage facilities, highlighting the profitability and safety of such arrangements based on last year's positive experiences.
The goal for this year is to double the gas volumes stored by foreign traders in Ukraine's UGS, building on the successful storage and transport operations in 2023. During April to October of the previous year, Ukraine facilitated the transit of 3.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the EU and Moldova, predominantly for storage by foreign entities in Ukrainian UGS.
By mid-February 2024, the volume of gas stored by non-residents in Ukraine's UGS had decreased to approximately 0.9 billion cubic meters, indicating the dynamic use and importance of these facilities in the regional energy landscape.
