Ukrainian Parliament Passes Two Key Anti-Corruption Laws for European Integration

On Friday, December 8, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, passed two significant legislative drafts, #10203-1 and 10262, essential for Ukraine’s path towards European integration

This information was shared by Yaroslav Zhelezniak, Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, on his Telegram channel.

The first draft, #10203-1, focuses on enhancing the institutional capacity of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). It proposes to increase the maximum number of NABU personnel from 700 to 1,000. To facilitate this expansion, competitions are planned to fill additional vacancies, with 100 new positions being added each year in 2024, 2025, and 2026.

The second legislative piece, draft #10262, aims to align certain provisions with the European Commission's conclusions regarding Ukraine. This law empowers the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to scrutinize the assets acquired by officials since entering civil service.
