Ukrainian President Addresses G7 Summit

On May 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made essential statements to the leaders of 7 states

For the first time, the president of Ukraine took part in the summit of the Group of Seven. Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not leave Kyiv and Ukraine. Traditionally, the leader of the people contacted the leaders of other countries via video communication. On May 8, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, Canada, and France simultaneously heard about the Ukrainian pain.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy always honors the memory of those who died in the previous days of the war. But he also does not talk about the same losses. So yesterday, Zelenskyy began his speech with a new terrible event — the shelling of a school with people in the village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.

"The Russian bomb killed 60 people. Peaceful people. They were hiding from shelling in a regular school building, which was attacked by a Russian airstrike. To do so is to emulate the very evil that the nazis have brought to Europe. The missile strikes on Odesa and other our cities are an imitation of how the nazis tried to bomb and bomb to destroy the cities of Europe," said the president of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy also recalled the forced deportation of Ukrainians to Russia and offered to support the country’s 5 needs for victory. Ukrainian military and people now need:

  • Weapons (especially multiple fire systems to save civilians from brutal mass attacks of the Russian Federation);
  • Termination of import-export relations between Europe and Russia;
  • Financial support;
  • A promise to help rebuild after the war;
  • Organization of European countries.

"If we have an organization of grain-exporting countries that respect international law, value democracy, and seek to protect human rights, including the right to life and the guaranteed well-being, — we will be able to give stability to food supplies and a historic victory over hunger," Zelenskyy told about the last paragraph.

The president of Ukraine also noted that Ukraine will not stop defending its borders and restoring territorial integrity.
