On May 16-17, Iceland hosts the 4th Council of Europe Summit. The head of the European Commission reminded the entire world audience that Russia’s Russian aggression against Ukraine did not begin in 2022 but in 2014. The Revolution of Dignity on Ukraine’s Independence Square already then showed Russia’s pro-European aspirations and the Kremlin’s dictatorial intentions.
"It started with the first victims shot dead on the Maidan... It started with the Russian invasion of Crimea and the Donbas," Ursula von der Leyen.
This proves that it is not enough to defeat Russia on the battlefield. The world needs security guarantees, and Zelenskyy's Peace Formula can provide them. Therefore, Ursula von der Leyen called to “unite efforts” and implementing the principles of peace that have been developed in Ukraine.
"We will not decide anything about Ukraine without Ukraine. That is why we fully support the Ukrainian peace formula."
"The Ukrainian formula for peace is the basis of their path to peace. That is why I call on all of us to support this Peace Formula."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined the Summit online and called on countries to provide F16 to Ukraine.
