On April 1, president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola arrived in Kyiv on a diplomatic visit. A briefing was also held with the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"I want to say on behalf of all European peoples that make up the family of the European Parliament that we are amazed, admired, inspired by the courage of the Ukrainian people, the courage of the Ukrainian army, your resilience. Parliamentary democracy has received a second wind in Europe thanks to the feat of the Ukrainian people and the actions of the Ukrainian parliament", Roberta Metsola.
The President of the European Parliament made a statement that not only Ukraine will be officially and quickly recognized as a candidate for EU membership, but it will also receive comprehensive assistance in rebuilding after the war. Roberta Metsola also stated that "Russia's encroachment on Ukraine, on its freedom and territory is an encroachment on the whole of Europe."
