Volodymyr Zelenskyy Addressed NATO Members

The president of Ukraine supported the integration of Finland and Sweden and called for support for Ukraine

The NATO summit in Madrid began on June 28. Secretary-general Stoltenberg said even before the meeting that NATO members are ready to hear Zelenskyy. So, on June 29, the president of Ukraine appealed to the alliance online.

The president of Ukraine congratulated Finland and Sweden on their accession to the European military-political union and declared his full support for them.

As expected, as part of the negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian war, Zelenskyy spoke about the country’s needs. The President of Ukraine has called for an end to Russian terror and not freezing the war. The head of state also said that Ukraine does not want to prolong the war, it should be ended as soon as possible, so he asked for the necessary weapons.

"We need many more of these modern systems, modern artillery. By giving them to us, you can completely break Russia’s tactics of destroying cities and terrorizing civilians. This is a fundamental thing. The distance from Kyiv to Madrid is less than the range of those missiles that are being used against us. Can one nation respond to such a threat without the help of partners? Can you provide this assistance," said Zelenskyy.

Also, the president of Ukraine once again hinted that there should be no "grey zone" between NATO and Russia. Ukraine should not remain in the middle and take the hits.

Several media also made a drawing of the main theses of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech in the North Atlantic Alliance. They emphasize the orientation of the Ukrainian military-political sphere:

"For the sake of peace, the understanding of NATO’s eastern flank must be reconsidered";

"We need security guarantees and you need to find a place for Ukraine in the common security space";

"Ukraine and NATO share the same goals";

"It is not a war against Ukraine, it is a war for establishing rules in Europe and ensuring a new world order";

"If Russia destroys us, it will destroy you";

"Has our contribution to Europe’s security been insufficient?".
