On the afternoon of May 17, the heads of state had a telephone conversation. Information about the dialogue was published by the president of Ukraine on his Twitter account.
"He held productive talks with the German chancellor. Discussed the situation at the front, continued pressure on Russia, tightening sanctions, and prospects for peace. We appreciate Germany's support, including defense. We look forward to further assistance to Germany on Ukraine's path to full EU membership," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It is also worth noting that on May 15, evidence was released that Olaf Scholz deliberately delayed the supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine.
It will be recalled that on May 17, Spiegel announced the transfer of 2.450 RGW-90 anti-tank grenade launchers, 1.600 DM22 anti-tank grenade launchers, and 3.000 DM31 anti-tank mines to Ukraine from Germany.
On May 16, German Bundesregierung spokesman Steffen Gebeshtrait announced a package of weapons to Ukraine: "Supplies continue. These are Panzerhaubitz 2000 howitzers, which are currently being trained to guide Ukrainian soldiers, sending Gepard, supplying bazookas and other military equipment."
