On May 4, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the Netherlands. The representative of Ukraine met with the president of the International Criminal Court, Piotr Hofmanski and the secretary of the International Criminal Court, Osvaldo Zavala Giler. Also, Zelenskyy appeared before an international criminal court. However, the president of Ukraine believes that he should not stand on the podium in The Hague.
"Surely we all want to see another Volodymyr in The Hague. The one who deserves to be convicted for criminal acts, and this must be done here in the capital of international law," said Zelenskyy.
Recall on March 17, the Hague court issued an arrest warrant for the president of Russia and the commissioner for children’s rights in the Russian Federation, Mariia Lvova-Belova.
At the same time, the head of state, who has been restraining the military aggression of the Russian Federation for more than a year, said that Putin will be held accountable for all crimes after Ukraine wins. He noted that another scenario is impossible because many countries have united in support of Ukraine. The politician also declared his desire to make this war the last in the world. If one of the largest agonists fails, it will happen. But so far, Zelenskyy has also given horrifying statistics. In April, Russian invaders committed the following in Ukraine:
- 6.139 war crimes;
- 190 people were killed;
- 17 kids were killed.
In addition, the representative of Ukrainians told about the terrorist act committed by the Russian army yesterday in Kherson – 23 people, including children, were killed; 48 were injured.
The statement on the need to transform the experience of the Nuremberg process and to apply it to the aggressor country was also a key message.
"Bringing to justice all those responsible for war crimes against humanity and genocide of the Ukrainian people is fundamental for Ukraine. For us, the result is exclusively specific sentences for all Russian war criminals. Including the top leadership of the aggressor country," the president of Ukraine added.
