The hottest news of the last week was the fighting in the Donetsk region. Now the bloody war between Soledar and Bahmut continues. However, the army of the Russian Federation hurried to inform the media that Soledar is under their control. This led the leadership of the "special operation" to transfer many fighters to the borders of Soledar and Bahmut, including mercenaries Wagner. However, the American Institute of War Studies conducted its analysis and concluded that the fighting is ongoing; neither of these cities has yet been wholly owned by either side.
Thus, the Kremlin hurried to announce at least some success after capturing the Lugansk region (which is liberating from the occupiers by Ukrainian soldiers) and continues to pay with people power. Therefore, in just 24 hours, the Ukrainian army was able to shoot down the enemy aircraft and eliminate 740 occupiers. From the first day of the war to January 13, 2023, enemy casualties amounted to:
- 114.130 — personnel;
- 3098 — tanks;
- 6167 — armoured personnel vehicle;
- 2086/437 — artillery systems/MRS;
- 218 — anti-aircraft warfare systems;
- 286/276 — aircraft/helicopters;
- 1.865 — UAV operational-tactical level;
- 732 — cruise missiles;
- 7 — warship/boats;
- 4.833 — vehicles, fuel tanks;
- 184 — special equipment.
So far, Ukraine has not completely won the war. But Kyiv was able to win in the political and diplomatic sphere. This week, mayors of Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest visited Ukraine. Presidents of Lithuania and Poland also visited Ukraine.
